EU Confirms Ukraine Peace Talks Are Ongoing at Different Levels

(MENAFN) The European Commission disclosed Monday that intensive negotiations surrounding Ukraine's peace process are advancing simultaneously across multiple diplomatic channels.

EU Commission spokesperson Paula Pinho revealed during the midday briefing that "several conversations took place at various levels on the topic of the peace negotiations regarding Ukraine" throughout the weekend.

Pinho underscored a recent telephone exchange between European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during which both leaders examined forthcoming measures for the peace initiative alongside matters with direct implications for the EU.

"Talks are ongoing at different levels," Pinho stated, emphasizing efforts to ensure EU and Ukrainian priorities are effectively communicated to negotiating partners in these peace discussions.

Sunday's Florida meeting between American and Ukrainian officials concentrated on defining where a prospective peace settlement would draw the de facto boundary line with Russia, two Ukrainian officials confirmed to media.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio characterized the session as "productive" and "successful" following the talks, as negotiations proceed on a comprehensive peace framework aimed at resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The parallel diplomatic tracks suggest accelerating momentum toward a potential settlement, though significant obstacles remain regarding territorial arrangements and security guarantees.
